Instructions
Prepare the Meatballs:
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease it lightly.
- Mix the Meatball Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until evenly combined.
- Form the Meatballs: Scoop the mixture using a spoon or cookie scoop and roll into 1-inch meatballs. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.
- Bake: Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 160°F).
Make the Teriyaki Sauce:
- Prepare the Sauce: While the meatballs are baking, make the sauce. In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, honey, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- Thicken the Sauce: Add the cornstarch slurry to the simmering sauce, stirring constantly until it thickens. Remove from heat and set aside.
Combine and Serve:
- Coat the Meatballs: Once the meatballs are cooked, transfer them to the saucepan and toss them in the teriyaki sauce until they’re well coated.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle with sliced green onions and sesame seeds for extra flavor and a beautiful presentation. Serve warm.
